Frequently Asked Questions

SERVICES COSTS :

Services costs may vary according to client/patient needs and frequency. Services shifts are 4 hours minimum; 16 hours per week with a service contact of one month.  Contact may be extended as needed.  We can offer services 24 hours a day.; 7 days a week.  For estimates you may contact our Sales Department through (787) 735-0361, or send an email to: info@likefamilypr.com

CRITERIA TO RECRUIT AND SELECT HOUSEKEEPERS :

Our field staff is rigorously evaluated and selected. Initially, we make a personal interview. As second step, we administer a questionnaire to measure knowledge, capacities, attitudes and personality trends. For this purpose we have an external resource specialized in human behavior. We also make criminal check-ups and request academic certifications, among others.

CAN THE FAMILY AND PATIENTS MEET THE HOUSEKEEPER PRIOR THE SERVICE?

Yes. We can arrange a house visit for this purpose.

Is Like Family insured?

Our company has the following insurance coverage:

  • Worker’s Compensation Insurance (Fondo del Seguro del Estado/E.L.A.)
  • Property Damages and Personal Injury
  • Public Accountability 

Is there a Central Operations and Administrative Office?

Does Like Family has ”back-up” human resources in case of sick leave of absence of the homemakers?

Yes. Like Family has a back-up personnel list for this situation.

ARE THE HOUSEKEEPERS CERTIFIED?

In Puerto Rico, by law, housekeepers are exempt to be certified by an accredited institution. As mentioned in other related service, periodically we encourage our staff to attend workshops related to care services for the elderly.

Our central office staff have been taking specialized classes at the Colegio Universitario de San Juan (San Juan´s University College) in order to be certified as Gerontology Technicians.

IS THERE AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN LIKE FAMILY AND THE PATIENT AND/OR THE FAMILY BEFORE SERVICES START?

Yes. Initially, each participant is visited by a Home Service Manager and the housekeeper assigned. The participant and/or the family is instructed about their rights and the housekeeper’s responsibilities. Finally, an agreement between the two sides is signed.
